The Face à Face Rouge Crozes Hermitage marks the launch of a new cuvée for Domaine Stéphane Ogier, a leading name among the wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. Produced for the first time in the 2023 vintage, this cuvée comes from plots situated in the Pont de l’Isère area (Drôme), which face each other in the landscape – a configuration that gave rise to its name.
Sensory features: A deep red colour with purple highlights, reflecting the wine’s youth and concentration. On the nose the wine is expressive and precise, characterised by aromas of red and black fruits, enhanced by spicy notes. A balanced and crisp palate, driven by rich fruit, a spicy structure and velvety tannins, leading to a harmonious finish.
Techical notes
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
The vines, planted on the characteristic rounded pebble soils of the Crozes Hermitage appellation, allow for a faithful and precise expression of Northern Rhône Syrah. In the cellar, vinification favours an approach that respects the fruit and the terroir, with carefully selected harvests and controlled extractions. Ageing is carried out with restraint to refine the structure without masking the wine’s identity.
Best served: Crozes Hermitage Face à Face pairs naturally with red meats or charcuterie platters. Best served at a temperature, between 14 and 16°C, and can be enjoyed young or cellared for 8 to 10 years.
