A fresh and delicate Pauillac Grand Cru Classé
Sensory Features: Château Pédesclaux 2022 is a classic vintage and has great potential. It is characterized by a deep and dynamic nose, with notes of small black fruits and spices. The mouth, deliciously juicy, is led by an incredible tension on the palate. Its supple, textured tannins and its dense finish allow Château Pédesclaux to assert its unique identity. As one of the finest estates in the Pauillac appellation, Château Pédesclaux is a picture of its terroir: complexity, depth, sensuousness, freshness, and tension.
Grape Varieties: 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc & 3% Petit Verdot.
Estate: Château Pédesclaux, 5th Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac, was founded by wine-broker Urbain-Pierre Pédesclaux, in the early 19th century. The Lorenzetti family took over the estate in 2009 and have raised the estate to the highest level by equipping it with state-of-the-art facilities. 2014 saw the construction of a new gravity-fed winery designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. In 2018, Manon Lorenzetti took over the reins of the estate, injecting new energy into the business.
Vineyard: Château Pédesclaux 2022 is a Pauillac wine made from a 52-hectare vineyard spread across 19 different terroirs. The vineyard is managed by Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, advised by oenologist Éric Boissenot.
Wine: 2022 is the first vintage to be certified organic, following a conversion that began in 2019.
Vintage: Winter alternated between cool, mild weather and low rainfall. Rigorous vineyard management by the estate's teams limited the impact of the late frost. The rainfall on 20 June was ideal for replenishing water reserves before a scorching summer. Despite their small size, the grapes were ideally concentrated.
