Estate: A Grand Cru Classé, Château Fleur Cardinale reveals all the typical characteristics of the terroir of Saint-Émilion, an emblematic appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
Vineyard: Château Fleur Cardinale 2022 is a Saint-Émilion wine from a vineyard of 23.22 hectares in production. With an average age of 30 years, the vines are planted on a veritable mosaic of terroirs with 7 different clay-limestone soils and sub-soils.
Vintage:Despite particularly cold temperatures at the beginning of April, the vines were able to get back into their stride thanks to better weather conditions in the following week. The month of May was very dry. The summer was marked by an historic disparity between day and night temperatures – ideal conditions to keep the fruit’s freshness.
Winemaking & Ageing: The grapes were harvested by hand in small crates, followed by meticulous sorting in the vineyard, first by densimetry and then by hand. Gravity vatting. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel truncated-cone vats. Vatting for 20 days. Gravity pumping over and R'Pulse. Micro-vinification in 20 x 500-litre barrels. The 2022 vintage was aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels (72% new, 18% single-vineyard), 30hl tuns (7%) and 750L amphorae (3%).
