Located in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, Provence, the stunning Grand Cros estate is like something out of a feelgood Romcom, with the old manor house and vineyards surrounded by pine trees, olive groves and dry stone terraces. Owned by the Faulkner family since 1989, they're a traditional family run outfit who have foregone the marketing bumph of some of their neighbours to produce honest and delicious wines. In 2015, Decanter magazine selected their 2014 rosé as best rosé in the world,
Sensory features: Elegant pink hue with salmon reflections. The nose is expressive and complex with a floral touch (broom), notes of candied fruit (melon, mango), sweet spices (cinnamon). The palate is ripe, full with a touch of freshness on the attack (grapefruit), there are candied fruit and it ends with notes of sweet almonds. A beautiful structure reinforces the original and elegant character of this gastronomic rosé.
Technical notes
Plot by plot; 3 hour skin maceration at 12 ° C; pressing with rapid separation of press juices; stabulation at 4 ° C for one week; cold static settling; fermentation in barrels and ovoid vats; control of the fermentation temperature at 16 ° C; blockage of malolactic fermentation; aging on lees and batonnage for 6 months.
Grape varieties: 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache & 30% Syrah.
Best served: Scallops, pan-fried foie gras and sole meunière.
