However Volnay is a village close to Pommard, its wines are considered as the finest and smartest of the Côte d'Or. These "Fremiets" are the most perfect example of this reputation. They are full of delicacy, very aromatic, even when young, and very well assimilate the tannins from oak with the concentration of a Premier Cru. Although their ageing potentiality is less than for the Pommard, the Volnay "Fremiets" will keep at least 6 to 8 years. The Volnay ‘Les Fremiets’ parcel under ownership is only .11 hectares (.27 acres) with vines replanted in 1987. Aged for 15 months in one 300-liter barrel. 

Since 2005, this parcel is farmed without a tractor, for not to compact the soil. Therefore all works are handmade, and ploughing by horses or mules!
